Create Your Own Engagement Guestbook

photo book

One of the latest trends is a guestbook filled with your engagement pictures. I love this idea because it displays your fun and creative side while sharing your engagement photos with your guests. Your guests will appreciate this since most of them will never get a chance to see these pictures. Also, it gives them a chance to write a personal message to the couple, rather than simply signing their name on the line like in traditional guestbooks. You’ll end up with an inexpensive keepsake you’ll cherish forever.

Most online digital photo printing companies now offer photo books. These photo books come in different bindings, soft and hard covers, and different materials. They come with several templates and styles to fit your occasion. I like this personalized cover photo book at PhotoWorks.com. There’s also a similar photo book at SmugMug.com. It’s as easy as uploading your photos and choosing a template and dragging and dropping the images into the preferred position. After you finalize and approve the album you’ve created, the printing company will then print your work of art. And that’s it! You now have a beautiful, personalized, guestbook for you and your guests to enjoy.

Get Creative with Personalized Photo Stamps

Check out these adorable photo stamps! I just had to share this with you (if you don’t know about photo stamps already). This is a great way to personalize your invitation envelopes. Imagine putting one of your engagement photos on a stamp. Or a picture of you and your fiancé as kids…a monogram…or even a special quote. These are just a few ideas…the possibilities are endless.

PhotoStamps.com makes it so easy to create your own photo stamps. They even let you preview your photo stamps like my example here. You can further customize your photo stamps with the frames and colors they provide. I chose a standard thin orange frame for mine. Then you select the appropriate postage and you’re done! The stamps are $18.99 for a sheet of 20. You won’t be saving any money here but I just thought these photo stamps make such a cute addition to your invitations.

Fewer Embellishments on Your Gown Can Bring Down the Price

During my search for a wedding gown, I found a dress that was surprisingly inexpensive. It looked a lot like this dress here. It was very simple, some rusching, and absent of any bead work. I wasn’t sure why until the store owner explained to me that they had the gown made without any of the intricate beading it originally had. They found that the dress sold better without the fancy bead work. I totally agree with her. I probably would have bought the dress and added a pretty brooch at the center of the neckline if I hadn’t found my dress. This was definitely my second choice.

Handy Tool for Finding the Best Prices on eBay

Here’s a neat little trick I use to find the best deals on eBay. If you go to FatFingers.com and type in the item you’re looking for, it’ll automatically generate a list of misspelled words and submit it to eBay. So what you end up with is a list of items very few are able to find due to simple typos. You may end up being the only bidder!

DIY Wedding Cupcakes

If you’ve got a bit of Martha Stewart in you, try baking your wedding cupcakes yourself. It might sound like an impossible feat but it’s much easier to tackle than a traditional wedding cake. Just imagine all the money you’ll save!

I remember baking cupcakes out of the box as a child. It was fun and easy and most importantly…delicious! I’ve never made cupcakes from scratch but looking at the recipes, it doesn’t seem too hard even for an inexperienced baker. And if it doesn’t work out, you know you’ll always have Betty Crocker as your backup. Shhh…you’re guests will never know!

CupcakeRecipes.com provides a variety of recipes that you might want to consider for your wedding cupcakes. I’m not much of a baker myself but these recipes seem easy enough. There’s even a section about wedding cupcakes with some useful tips.

I know it’s easier to watch a demonstration on how to bake cupcakes rather than read about it so I’ve also included some how-to videos on cupcakes. (You can navigate the videos by hovering your mouse over the video and using the right and left arrows in the middle of the screen.)
